CEREC Same-Day Crowns: A Modern Approach to Restoring Your Tooth

by | Aug 31, 2017 | Restorations

Getting a dental crown doesn’t always have to mean wearing a temporary crown for a couple of weeks and returning for another appointment. With CEREC technology, many crowns can be designed, created, and placed in a single visit.

At Restore Dental Arts, we use digital dentistry to design and create custom ceramic crowns right in our office. For many patients, that means restoring a damaged tooth without the wait for a permanent crown to return from an outside dental laboratory.

How Do CEREC Crowns Work?

When a tooth is weakened by decay, a fracture, or previous dental work, a crown can restore its strength, shape, and function. With CEREC technology, many crowns can be designed, milled, and placed in a single visit.

Using a digital scan of the prepared tooth, the dentist designs a custom crown that is milled from a solid block of ceramic right in the office. The crown is then checked for fit and carefully finished to complement the surrounding teeth.

Not every crown is completed in one day. We also use Medit digital scanners to capture precise impressions for restorations made through other workflows. In these cases, patients typically wear a temporary crown while the permanent restoration is fabricated.

Our in-house dental lab technicians bring additional expertise to the restorative process, helping us create custom restorations with careful attention to fit, function, and aesthetics. Whether a crown is completed in one visit or crafted through our lab workflow, the goal is the same: a restoration that looks natural and works beautifully.

Is a CEREC Crown Right for You?

CEREC same-day crowns are a convenient option for many patients, but the best approach depends on the condition of your tooth and your individual needs. Your dentist can help you determine which type of restoration is right for you.

At Restore Dental Arts, we combine modern digital technology with the skill of our dentists and in-house dental lab technicians to create restorations tailored to each patient. Whether your crown is completed in one visit or crafted through our lab workflow, we pay close attention to the fit, function, and details that make a difference in your smile.
